Starting a New Chapter @ Gidgegannup

Fifty years ago the Gidgegannup site was gifted to our Elders to protect culture & country. Today this responsibility was handed across to As One Nyitting and with great pride we will ensure to protect this site for many more generations.

In 2019, AONL engaged with 150 Ngoongar Elders, culminating in a gathering of 70 key community members at Burlong in the WA Wheatbelt. After exploring the array of challenges facing us, Elders voted on two priorities and with majority agreement, a Wellness Centre was identified as the top priority for the community.

Creating a Cultural Site of Wellness & Empowerment

Close to ancient sacred sites, the block of bushland surrounded by state forest. This Gidgegannup land offers a unique future for our community through the regeneration of Culture via community programs, culturally safe respite accommodation, and research & development into traditional farming practices and sustainable agriculture.
